I’m happy to be celebrating my 40th year as a professional actress in 2018. I was born in the mining town of Sutton in Ashfield, Notts and trained at the Rose Bruford College (1975 - 78). Since leaving drama school, I've worked on the London Fringe at theatres up and down the country. Major roles include the Landlady in Two (Hull Truck/UK Tour), Mari Hoff in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (Hull Truck), Anne Bronte in Jane Eyre (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Lottie Grady in When We Are Married (WYP/Liverpool Playhouse), Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Northern Lights) and Gloria in The Language of Heaven (Theatre Clwyd).

 

More recent work includes playing Madame Fournier in Buglight Theatre's The House Behind The Lines directed by Ruth Carney.

TV credits include Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Red Dwarf, Doctors, Holby City, HeartBeat, Touch of Frost and more recently Brief Encounters for ITV. Film work includes Streetlife (BBC Wales), Branwen (S4C) and The Miracle Maker (Icon International).

 

I have also worked in radio, extensively for BBC Radio Manchester and BBC Cardiff. Radio comedy series include Living With Betty with Barbara Windsor, For Better Or For Worse with Su Pollard, and Gordon Kaye, and Ken Dodd's Springtime Special.

I am a resident tutor at Easy Street Academy, Sheffield and a guest tutor at Carney Academy, Sheffield.
